PROJECT: Church Solin

AUTHOR OF CONCEPT DESIGN: Viktor Vrečko, B.Arch., Vladin Petrov, B.Arch. LEAD DESIGNER: Gordan Resan, B.Arch.
ARCHITECTURE FIRM: Gordan Resan Arhitekti Partneri d.o.o.
YEAR: construction underway
INVESTOR: Splitsko-makarska Archdiocese
LOCATION: Solin

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The church is of elliptical shape, with broken and protruding side mantles. On the south side, there is a semi-circular projec- tion accommodating the baptistery. The total outer dimensions of the church are 45.45 m in the east-west axis and 37.90 m in the north-south axis. The church’s height is 12.70 m at its lowest level and 17.40 m at its highest part – the skylight. The idea was to create a living space on all sides of the church, i.e. in its entire coverage so that the central sacral structure communicates to its surroundings on all sides. The new church of Solin adds to the overall image of the town, being a new, aesthetically quality space from the standpoint of culture, religion and identity. The church has a unique form externally, which stems from the inner dynamics and captures the side walls and roof into one whole. The unique volume grows from the liturgical identity of this sacred site, which environmentally and communicationally oozes with openness and unity at the same time. Among the elements of the outer space, the tower bell needs to be mentioned, which is integrated into the side wall rising above the roof. The tower bell makes part of the whole with its façade, but it does not ruin its entry and vertical dynamics. The roof of the church is embedded into the whole as the “fifth façade”, with clean lines which flow into the core.

PROJECT: Pastoral Centre Solin

AUTHOR OF CONCEPT DESIGN: Viktor Vrečko, B.Arch., Vladin Petrov, B.Arch.
LEAD DESIGNER: Gordan Resan, B.Arch.
ARCHITECTURE FIRM: Gordan Resan Arhitekti Partneri d.o.o.
YEAR: construction underway
INVESTOR: Splitsko-makarska Archdiocese
LOCATION: Solin

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

On the north-east side of the Island of Our lady, there is a pas- toral centre, which accommodates a hall and an apartment for the staff of the Sanctuary. The first floor of the centre accom- modates a large hall (multifunctional – with partitioning options) with a stage, a large entry space foreseen for exhibitions, social events, gatherings etc., a cloakroom, kitchenette and toilettes. The first floor also accommodates the apartment for the staff of the parish and of the Sanctuary. The shape of the Pastoral Centre respects fully the shape of the plot and its layout is broken – wedge-shaped - and perfectly fitting into the landscape context. The broader area, i.e. the access area of the centre is of 20.96 m of width, whereas it is of 2.76 m of width at its opposite side. The total east-west length is 26.33 m.

PROJECT: Automobile Club Rijeka

AUTHOR: Gordan Resan, B.Arch.
ARCHITECTURE FIRM: GORDAN RESAN ARHITEKTI PARTNERI D.O.O.
YEAR: project
INVESTOR: Autoklub Rijeka LOCATION: Rijeka

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The idea behind this project was to elaborate a transport and ur- ban-architectural design for the new Automobile Club with a sta- tion for roadworthiness tests of vehicles and new contents such as bodywork repair, tachometer repair, tyre service with a tyre hotel, car glass maintenance, customs depot for vehicles and vessels not in running order and foreign vehicles. The construction fore- sees a loose urban typology of stand-alone buildings in which each programme function is located in its own building on the ground, and the garage is below the plateau, occupying a hollow volume that remains below the plateau at 97 m above-sea level.

The first floor of the administrative part of the station for road- worthiness tests accommodates new office premises of the man- agement of the Automobile Club. This way, all the offices locat- ed in the city would be concentrated at one place.

Part of the administrative and technology park is also the accom- panying catering structure with an automotive museum, outdoor terrace and view of the Kvarner Bay. This structure can be ac- cessed from the central area of the park and directly from the garage. The volumes of each structure are fully aligned with the terrain configuration so that the public purpose structures are located in smaller buildings in front and the service area and ad- ministrative buildings as larger structures are located in the back.
